Monday, July 7 through Friday, July 11 — 9 a.m. to 12 noon

For ages 10 through 15. Young authors will learn the fundamentals of fiction writing from idea generation to drafting, revision, editing, and publication with guest instructor Keir Graff, a nationally published multi-genre author. Keir will mentor students as they write short stories to be included in the anthology, “Tales from the Treehouse.” This week-long workshop culminates with a celebratory student reading on Friday, July 11 at 12 noon in the Treehouse Theater.

Tuesday June 24 through Friday, June 27 — 10 a.m. to 12 noon

For children age 6 to 10. Work with Jennifer Ware, Treehouse’s Visitor Services Manager to paint, draw, and sculpt your own masterpieces using a variety of mediums, all based on the art of recognized artists.

Monday, June 9 through Friday, June 13 — 9 a.m. to 12 noon daily

For children age 7 to 11 (currently in grades 1 through 5).  This workshop, taught by Treehouse Programs Manager Wes Whitby, lets young actors Step on Stage at Treehouse by learning about writing, costuming, staging, and acting in a play (to be performed on June 13 at 6 p.m.)

Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18 — 9 a.m. to 12 noon daily

For children age 7 to 11 (currently in grades 1 through 5).  This workshop, taught by Treehouse Programs Manager Wes Whitby, lets young actors Step on Stage at Treehouse by learning about writing, costuming, staging, and acting in a play (to be performed on July 18 at 6 p.m.)

Monday, July 28 through Friday, August 1 — 9 a.m. to 12 noon daily

For ages 10 to 15. Ever want to make your own movie? Work with guest instructor James Kennedy, founder of the 90-second Newbery Film Festival and Young Adult Author, and other class participants to script, film, and edit short films that give a new twist to a Newbery award-winning book. Screen your movie for your family and friends at special showing scheduled at the end of the workshop.

It’s our “Hello, Summer Party!” for the last day of On Track for the 2024 - 2025 School Year. Make a Train Hat in the Art Garden and then join Phyllis, Will, and Caden in the Storybook Theater for favorite stories and songs and information about participating in next year’s On Track to Reading program, which is just for preschoolers and their grown-ups, and starts on Monday, October 6, 2025.

On Track to Reading is a school readiness program just for preschoolers and their grown-ups.

This is also the last "Baby Talk with Baby Bear" until October, a program designed especially for ages birth to 3 and their adults. Haylee and Juniper, a mother and baby team, and Jennifer the grandmother, will share finger plays, rhymes, board books, and more just for the very smallest of our On Track participants. "Baby Talk" will start at 10:30 and last just 15 minutes in the One World Village.
