Come and meet René Colato Lainez, the award-winning author of many bilingual and multicultural children’s books, including the beautiful and moving “My Shoes and I: Crossing Three Borders.” Other favorites at Treehouse among his books are “Let’s Be Friends, Seamos Amigos,” Señor Pancho Had a Rancho,” “Playing Loteria, Eljuego de la Loteria,” and “¡Vámonos! Let’s Go!” René was known as the teacher with stories when he taught school in a bilingual classroom. René has a master’s degree from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Writing for Children and Young Adults. René will talk about his books in the Treehouse Theater at 6:30 p.m. ASL interpretation will be provided. He’ll sign copies of his books for families and educators after the talk. Treehouse staff will be playing Loteria with families and all the Treehouse exhibits will be open. Please note that this event is free for both children and adults, but requires a ticket reservation to attend.

This event is part of the 25th annual Utah Humanities Book Festival. This annual free festival is the Utah Humanities’ gift to the community, allowing us to explore all sorts of ideas by interacting with great writers.
