Children's Golden Spike Celebration

May 9 through 11

All Aboard! It’s a Celebration of Historic Proportions and your Family is Invited!

Join us for the Children’s Golden Spike Celebration at Treehouse Children’s Museum from Thursday, May 9 through Saturday, May 11 for lots of exciting events to maker the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike in Utah.

On the evening of May 9 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Treehouse staff will unveil a new passenger car to go with the Museum’s 1/2 scale Jupiter Locomotive. Brian Floca, the amazing author and illustrator of the Caldecott-winning book “Locomotive,” will be the guest of honor for the party and will speak about his book and his work at 6:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. in our Simmons Storybook Theater. There's even Cold Stone ice cream in the Art Garden. Children attending get Treehouse Golden Spike Tickets to do all kinds of train-related and history activities and games led by Treehouse Train Conductors and earn prizes. We’ll be doing drawings throughout the evening for autographed books and train sets. Tickets are free for members and $10 for nonmembers and are available right now! Click here to reserve yours.

On May 10 and 11 Treehouse will be continuing the celebration with our Train Conductors presenting lots of stories, art projects, “train brain” contests, games and prize drawings. Friday, May 10 Treehouse will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a special activities from 2 to 8 p.m., including a program in our theater at 6:15 p.m. On Saturday, May 11 Treehouse will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. again with special celebration activities on the hour throughout the day.
